A substantial attached Victorian property with potential for further accommodation (subject to planning) amid beautiful grounds in a quiet semi rural enclave * Cranbrook School catchment area *

* No Onward Chain *

Iden Court is an impressive attached Victorian property dating from circa 1860, originally the coach house and stables to Iden Old Manor which was formerly owned by the eminent Hoare banking family and latterly by the Convent of the Good Shepherd. Iden Court itself was converted to a school in the 1960’s, although remained unused as such, before conversion to a residential dwelling in 1968, being the principle property along with six mews style houses.

The property presents brick elevations with bay windows to the front and a gabled rear elevation with delightful clock tower above. It is today presented to the market for the first time since 1968 and offers the opportunity for updating and the creation of further accommodation, subject to planning.

Internally, the accommodation displays all the balance and proportions you would expect from a property of this era. There are good sized windows and much of the accommodation is double or triple aspect taking advantage of high levels of natural light. There are also lofty ceiling heights overhead and wealth of period features including ornamental coving and ceiling roses, circular feature windows, pine panelling, open fireplaces, decorative beams and exposed brickwork.

There is a substantial attached workshop with large store room above which provides potential for further two storey accommodation, a 1st floor attic room with mezzanine area giving access to a large unconverted attic store and there is also an extensive loft above: all providing potential for further accommodation, subject to any necessary planning consent(s).

The properties centre around a restful cobbled courtyard in an exclusive and peaceful setting. At the front, there are beds filled with flowering shrubs which adjoin the courtyard. At the rear, the landscaped gardens include expansive lawns providing generous space for families and a paved terrace, also accessible from the house creating a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings. The garden is bounded by some magnificent trees and fenced providing peace of mind for parents and pet owners. In addition, there is parkland to the south of the estate fencing which is solely for the use of Iden Court.
