An exquisite Grade II* manor house set within beautiful gardens and grounds extending to 17.44 acres, with separate outbuildings.

Description

Marche Manor is a very attractive black and white period house dating back to 1520, with an extension gable finial dated at 1604, set in exquisitely beautiful gardens and grounds. The property is approached via a private drive which takes you to a parking area at the side of the house. The house has many features, including exposed beams, leaded windows, oak flooring, fireplaces and decorative panelling.
The accommodation is designed to provide a versatile selection of formal and informal reception space. This is perfect for both entertaining guests and enjoying cosy evenings in front of the wood burning stove. Like much of the house, the sitting room has many unique and detailed features including the large inglenook fireplace with decorative panelling above, bench seating and the original front door. The views look out over the gardens, to the front of the house.
The dining room also boasts an inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove, with a carved over mantle incorporating an original landscape painting. The drawing room has two bay windows with seating, fabulous panelling and French doors that open into the L shaped garden room with a tile floor. This room has a stunning view over the gardens and central water feature. Leaving the sitting room in the other direction, there is access into the library and then onto the kitchen and breakfast room.
Spanning the full width of the house, this well designed area is light and spacious and comes complete with fitted David Orton units. The kitchen offers a two oven AGA, a double electric oven with ceramic induction hob and granite worktops. A wonderful feature is the converted dovecote with exposed beams and an octagonal roof. This can be accessed off the kitchen through a boot/utility room with bespoke cabinets to fit the shape of the room.
Stairs lead from the sitting room to the first floor panelled landing area. The principal bedroom is triple aspect with views overlooking the gardens. The room has ample storage space with fitted David Orton wardrobes and an en suite bathroom with fitted cupboards. The first floor also features a family bathroom, a double bedroom with built in wardrobes, a further double bedroom and a separate sitting room/study which could serve as a further bedroom.
On the second floor is a double bedroom with a bedroom/dressing room situated next to it, a further two bedrooms, a useful storage cupboard and a box room with fitted shelving. The second floor would be ideal for a teenagers pad, guest accommodation or for home office use.

The gardens at Marche Manor can be described as majestic. They have been sympathetically planted to allow a natural but classic look, which mirrors the quintessential country garden. The central lawn is surrounded by well stocked borders. “Kate’s” walled garden features a Hartley greenhouse with cold frames to the side. A brick built raised bed follows the south facing wall and contains espaliered fruit trees. This is a lovely area for entertaining and al fresco dining.
Wide stone steps lead up to a raised gravel terrace and pathway that encompasses the house, providing the perfect vantage point. Above this, the gardens rise to a large border spanning the length of the terrace. There is a wealth of Rhododendrons and Azaleas with lawned steps leading to a seating area, to take in the views over the Breiddens and the orchard.
The Lake is a wonderful feature offering the perfect wildlife haven. A duck house sits centrally with a backdrop of recently planted ornamental trees, as well as an abundance of Bluebells and Daffodils in the spring. The main lawn area was originally tennis courts and is now used as a Helipad. The summer house is tucked away to allow privacy from the main house, with an arbour and seating area and the 13m rose arch, which frames magnificent views towards the Stiperstones.
Most of the pasture land is situated above the gardens but there are also paddocks to the side of the outbuildings.

The traditional brick buildings are situated in an L shape around a grass courtyard and are in very good condition. They are currently used as storage and stabling but could offer a multitude of uses, including taking advantage of the current planning permission to turn them into residential units. (SA/08/1520/F Conversion of redundant farm buildings into 7 residential dwellings and associated alterations). In 2001, the current owners built a steel portal frame agricultural shed, with insulated roof, three phase electricity and electric roller shutter door. This building offers huge scope for a plethora of including American barn stabling, to house a classic car collection, a workshop or storage to name a few.
