If you are looking for an attractive and characterful family home for horsey enthusiasts this charming property should tick all the boxes. Located about two miles from the centre of Ryde in the hamlet of Ashey it is surrounded by countryside and nestles in about xx acres of garden and paddocks. The house has been beautifully updated since its days as a school and now includes plenty of spacious and versatile accommodation. There is a charming lounge that is open to the front lobby and includes a brick fireplace that you can sit around on a cold winter's evening. It has access to the large inner hall that leads to all the other rooms on the ground floor as well as stairs to the upper floor.

A country style kitchen with terracotta tiled flooring and wood units is delightful and incorporates a hob and two built in ovens as well as space for additional appliances and a door to the garden. This floor also includes a good sized dining room with double aspect windows providing plenty of natural light, a study and a double bedroom with an adjacent shower room that would be ideal for guests and family members who find stairs difficult or the shower is just the place for a quick clean up after mucking out the horses.

There is also a modern family bathroom with a roll top bath while upstairs you will find four good sized bedrooms with painted wood vaulted ceilings and views across the surrounding countryside. These include one with an en suite cloakroom and a fitted cupboard, and another with two fitted wardrobes and attractive etched windows.

Outside there is plenty of hard standing for off road parking, a garage and a driveway leading to the stables with four good sized looseboxes with electricity and a tack room. A brick building adjoining the garage has power and lighting, and is currently in use as a utility room. The grounds are mainly laid to lawn backing onto fields, whilst the paddocks have post and rail fencing. To provide additional pasture for the horses the previous owners also rented the land behind the house.

What the Owner says:

We have been very happy here as the house is particularly private and not overlooked but it is time to start a new chapter in our lives. Ashey is a charming hamlet with a heritage station and a single-track railway that runs between Wootton and Smallbrook Junction. It also includes Trotters Riding School and is famous for its annual amateur horse race known as ‘The Isle of Wight Grand National and Ashey Scurry' where four races are held and open to all horses and ponies. The nearby village of Havenstreet has a steam railway museum and Bird of Prey Centre, and we are only a couple of miles from Ryde which is delightful. Unlike some places on the Island it is alive all year round and includes a variety of independent shops, bars and restaurants as well as delightful beaches and the National Nature Reserve.
