History

Known originally as 'The Manor House' and controlling many acres this former farmhouse is believed to be one of the oldest properties in the village. Extended during the 17th century under a Welsh and Swithland slate a number of features from the Tudor period still survive within the property.

Location

Cossington is a picturesque village nestled within the north Leicestershire countryside between Leicester and Loughborough. The village itself offers a pub/restaurant, village church and recently extended primary school. A wide range of amenities can be found in the neighbouring villages of Sileby, Rothley and Syston and the nearby A46 provides fast access to Leicester, Nottingham, M1(J21) and M69. The market towns of Loughborough and Melton Mowbray are also within easy reach.

Ground Floor

The main entrance into the property is located within the oldest part and is known locally as the Sileby hallway. This part of the house dates back to the early 16th century and displays a wealth of period features to include a tiled floor, exposed beams and from the hall there is access to the rear garden. From the hall the main staircase rises to the first floor and leading off the hallway is a generous cloakroom with refitted W/C leading off. The family room is also located within the oldest part of the property and occupies a sunny southwest corner. Features include slate floor and two multi-paned Georgian windows flood the room with natural light.

Ground Floor Cont'd

Central to the ground floor accommodation is a large, dual aspect sitting room with large inglenook and open fire.
