HISTORY
The main house is notable for its specific interest due to its vernacular character and linear form and a well preserved interior which was home to three generations of the Morris Family, including Morgan Morris, the Rector of Mitchel Troy and Vicar of Wonastow who purchased the Estate in 1635. Although believed to be the site of an older hall-house, the existing main house dates from the mid-17th Century and is rubble stone under a slate roof with collar trusses and two tiers of purlins. The two principal ground floor rooms display ovolo ceiling beams with flat and scroll stops believed to date from around 1650, although the upper room (the dining room) possibly has earlier origins.
