Hangar, Airstrip and Land:

Woonton Airfield is located in North Herefordshire and may be found on CAA charts. It is approximately five miles South West of Shobdon Airfield (EGBS) which offers fuel and maintenance services. The strip runs 16/34 and slopes up towards the North, accommodating most suitable types of light aircraft. Due to the gradient, all landings are to the North and all take offs to the South, which also avoids the local village of Woonton and has kept neighbours happy for the last twenty-five years. The Northern part of the strip is sheltered by trees, such that crosswinds are rarely a problem.

There is plenty of space for parking at the side of the strip and the entire facility, situated at the rear of the chapel, is discretely concealed from view on any nearby roads.

.

The current hangar is designed to accommodate two aircraft and is currently home to both an Auster and a Jodel. The building is of steel portal frame construction with a pitched profile sheet roof and profile sheet walls. Internally, the hangar has a concrete floor.

Further airfield details can be found in various UK flight guides or online flight planning services.

.

The property as a whole sits within approximately 11.8 acres of pasture. This has been managed by grazing.

The airstrip was granted planning consent under planning reference NW090429/F for the 'Change of use of land from agricultural to mixed agricultural and as a landing field for a light aircraft, change of use of a barn from agricultural and equipment storage to include vintage light aircraft. (retrospective application)'.
