Situated on the shores of Loch Doon, Craigmalloch Lodge has stunning views across the loch over the Galloway Hills. Built of traditional stone with a single storey extension, it occupies a beautiful rural situation by the loch.

Dalmellington, about 9 miles, offers good local services, primary and secondary schooling, whilst the picturesque village of Carsphairn is about 15 miles to the south. The County town of Ayr is 23 miles distant with an excellent range of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, a hospital and cinema. Glasgow city centre, about 59 miles, can be reached via the A/M77. Prestwick Airport, about 30 miles, has frequent international flights.

Loch Doon is about 7 miles long, and forms the gateway to the Galloway Forest Park, a popular destination offering excellent hill and forest walking and mountain biking. Located just south of Craigmalloch Lodge is the Carrick Forest Drive, a two-way forest drive connecting Loch Doon and the Stinchar Bridge. There are several waymarked walks and picnic areas along this 6 mile route, with fabulous views over the Galloway Hills.

Ayrshire’s highest hill, Shalloch-on-Minnoch (2520ft) can be climbed from Loch Doon or accessed from the Stinchar Bridge. Equestrian pursuits are popular in the region too, with livery facilities close by at Craigengillan Estate.

The Galloway Forest Park has been designated as the fourth Dark Sky Park in the world and the first in the United Kingdom. There is a café (The Roundhouse) situated on the shores of Loch Doon and a 50 pitch Touring Caravan Site. At the foot of the loch, Loch Doon Castle was once built on an island. It was owned by the Earls of Carrick and was transplanted to the mainland in 1935 to prevent its destruction by a hydro-electric scheme. Fishing is available on Loch Doon for brown trout and there are shingle beaches ideal for launching small boats or canoes. The tranquillity of Loch Doon makes it an exciting natural habitat for local wildlife and bird sightings.

Ayrshire is renowned for its many golf courses including the world famous facilities at Turnberry. There are fine yachting facilities at the marinas at Troon and Ardrossan.

The accommodation is all on one level, the original part of the house sits under a slate roof with a single storey extension built under a tiled roof.

Outside there are two toilet/shower blocks with a washing up area and a garage/store. There is a slipway into the loch for small boats and canoes. Craigmalloch Lodge has been run as an activity centre for the last 2 years with bell tent camping and outdoor activities for small groups.

All on the ground floor, the accommodation comprises a utility room with plumbing for washing machine, tumble drier and houses the boiler. The fitted kitchen with cream floor and wall units has an 8 hob LPG gas hob with electric oven and tiled splashback and integrated dishwasher. There is a shelved pantry and space for a dining area.

Glazed doors lead to the inviting sitting room with a lovely stone fireplace with wood burning stove, with one and a half height pine beamed ceiling and stunning views over Loch Doon. A door leads out to the gardens.

There are three bedrooms (one with built in wardrobes) and a family bathroom with w.c., separate large shower cubicle and bath. Craigmalloch Lodge has double glazing throughout and oil fired central heating.

Craigmalloch Lodge is approached from the single track public road, and a drive leads to a gravelled parking area to the side of the property for a number of vehicles. The gardens face south east, and are mainly down to lawn with a large gravelled area, and there is a slipway located beyond the garden suitable for small boats and canoes.

The detached stone garage (approximately 6.93m x 4.26m) has power with a concrete floor.
