Edwardian gem in outstanding gardens.

Description

Built in 1912, Parkwood is a fine example of Edwardian architecture. There are numerous period features throughout the house, including an octagonal drawing room, original cornicing, and arches throughout the hallways. The kitchen is the hub of the house, with a large AGA and French doors provide access directly into the garden. Off the kitchen are three rooms, used a utility, boot and dog rooms with access to the garage. The dining room has an open fireplace, and paneled walls. The largest of the reception rooms has been turned into a billiards room, with a built in bar and jet master fireplace. On the ground floor, there is a further family sitting room and large study.

Upstairs there are 7 bedrooms, four of which are en suite. The majority having far reaching views over rolling countryside and the gardens.

The current owners have undergone numerous works in their time of ownership, including putting in double glazing throughout the house and installing a new boiler. Adding three jet master fireplaces to the kitchen, drawing room and games room. The drive way has been fully resurfaced and the drainage updated.

Location

Cottage The cottage at Parkwood has been renovated by the current owners, who have created a large open plan living space with excellent views across neighbouring farm land. There are three double bedrooms, two modern bathrooms, a large utility room and cloakroom.

Gardens and Grounds Set in beautifully manicured gardens and grounds, the house benefits from fully matured herbaceous borders, specimen and fruit trees. The ewe hedges are believed to date back to 1912 when the house was built. A large rhododendron hedge marks the western border of the property and flowers late in the Spring. There is a recently re-surfaced tennis court, and large heated swimming pool with pool house. As well as a large kitchen garden with raised beds.
