Known originally as Sagg Farm back in the 14th century and then re-named Locksley after a favoured racehorse owned by a previous owner, Locksley Farmhouse is a fascinating blend of period, rural character and contemporary rustic décor. It is very much an interesting one-off, which started life as a 14th century thatched cottage to which a barn was added in the Edwardian era. A self-contained cottage/annexe came next in the 1960s and then most recently a timber-clad, ground-floor principal bedroom suite. The property has been the much-loved family home of its current owners for the past 10 years and during that time has been renovated literally from top to bottom. This includes the roof, which has just been re-thatched using wheat straw. Some original architectural features remain along with sympathetic additions including flagstone flooring throughout much of the ground floor, vaulted ceilings with exposed roof timbers, timber floors and fireplaces. The focus of the accommodation is the centrally positioned Edwardian barn, which has been converted into a magnificent, central room that combines a large farmhouse kitchen with living space with sufficient room for separate seating and dining areas. The kitchen is fitted with bespoke, painted timber units including a free-standing and moveable central island, double Belfast sink, Welsh dresser and electric Rangemaster range cooker. Natural light floods in through a large rooflight and through floor to ceiling, oak frame windows that look out across the garden towards the surrounding, open countryside and the rooftops of RNAS Yeovilton, which is about a quarter of a mile away and largely hidden by tall field hedging. This central living space is also a wonderful room for entertaining as the French windows can be opened out to an extensive timber deck beneath an oak pergola. Off to one side of the entrance hall is a single storey, timber-clad wing incorporating the laundry room, a double bedroom and the principal bedroom suite, which has a walk-through dressing room leading to a sumptuous en-suite shower room. The old cottage now incorporates two additional reception rooms, a further double, ground-floor bedroom and family bathroom, with three further double bedrooms, all with vaulted ceilings, on the first floor. Off one side of the converted barn is a good-sized, self-contained annexe extending over two floors.

Locksley Farmhouse is approached off a country lane via a gravel drive that leads to a parking area with space for several vehicles. On one side and facing onto the parking area is stable block incorporating five loose boxes. To the rear of the stable block are a hay barn, pig barn and a large Nissen hut that all front onto a concrete apron that serves as an additional parking area. The garden extends out behind, in front and to one side of the house and consists mainly of level lawns bound by stock-proof fencing that allows the full extent of the view to be appreciated. The eastern boundary runs along the passing lane with privacy afforded by tall, mature field hedging. In all the garden and grounds extend to just under an acre.

Locksley Farmhouse is situated in open countryside midway between the Royal Naval Air Station at Yeovilton and the small village of Podimore. The village has a pub and church, whilst the nearby, small town of Ilchester businesses including medical, dental and veterinary surgeries. Taunton and Yeovil are also close by and there are direct rail services from Yeovil Junction station to Waterloo and Exeter. The local area is also blessed with a wide selection of popular state and independent schools.
