A delightful period farmhouse in a tranquil, tucked away edge of village setting amidst the picturesque countryside of the Deben Valley.
Low Farm is offered for sale for the first time in over 50 years, having been a wonderful family home to the present vendors. Tucked away off the narrow Quiet Lanes between Eyke village and the Deben Estuary, the property enjoys a delightfully tranquil rural setting, with wonderful views across the picturesque and unspoiled countryside of the Deben Valley. Believed to date from the 16th Century with a 19th Century cross wing and Listed Grade II, the farmhouse has been well maintained and sits amidst mature and secluded gardens and grounds approaching 2 acres.
Within, the accommodation which extends to some 2280 sq ft, includes a central entrance hall, with a wood burning stove and with doors to an elegant twin aspect drawing room and an atmospheric and a well-proportioned dining room. The farmhouse kitchen links nicely into a cosy snug, whilst set off a rear hall is the utility room with a study beyond and store loft above. On the first floor there are four double bedrooms, an en suite wash room and a good sized family bath/shower room.
OUTSIDE
Electronically controlled wrought iron gates access a shingled driveway, which sweeps to a parking and turning area flanked by ranges of traditional timber framed buildings, one of which, a five bay cart lodge, provides parking and storage, whilst the other, a small barn, provides workshop and storage with a floor above and adjoining general purpose stores. A gateway from the parking courtyard leads across a sheltered terrace, ideal for alfresco dining, and easily accessible from the back door of the house, whilst a second sheltered terrace benefits from the late afternoon and evening sun.
The gardens lie mainly to the south of the house and are laid to well-kept lawns, sheltered and flanked by mature hedgerow, with steps leading through a small wall to the open meadow grounds maintained as a wild flower pasture, this is enclosed by mature hedgerow and an avenue of mature mixed trees, which return to a shady area of copse garden with a sheltered ‘dell’ garden beyond the driveway.
In all the property extends to about 1.9 acres.
