Situation - The woodland lies in a quiet location between the Taw Valley and the Torridge Valley in North Devon with the village of Ashreigney approximately 1.5 miles to the north and Winkleigh 3.5 miles to the south.

Chulmleigh is 4 miles to the east of the wood and the larger towns of South Molton (13 miles), Crediton (17 miles) and Barnstaple (15 miles) are all within easy reach via the A377.

Description - Lower Minicleave and Hole Wood comprises a mixed woodland with both softwood and deciduous trees, extending in total to 28.17 acres (11.40 hectares).

The section known as Hole Wood is predominantly soft wood trees planted as a commercial forest either side of a small stream with both a north-east aspect and south-west aspect. There are tracks through the wood to allow timber harvesting and good road frontage on the eastern boundary.

Lower Minicleave Wood is a more deciduous wood with established beech, oak and holly trees with a variety of flora on the woodland floor including bluebells, primroses and ferns. This section adjoins includes some open areas and Hollocombe Water flows along part of the southern boundary.

Access - There is direct access to the woodland from a council maintained road.

Directions - From the A377 at Leigh Cross, west of Chulmleigh proceed west signed towards Bridge Reeve and Ashreigney. Follow this road to Bridge Reeve Cross shortly after crossing the River Taw and turn left towards Hollocombe. After 200 yards follow the road to the right towards Hollocombe.

Continue up the hill and after approximately 1.6 miles at Staple Green Cross turn right towards Ashriegney. Follow this road for 700 yards and just after crossing the bridge over the stream, the woodland will be found on the left, adjacent to the Public Bridleway sign.
