SELLERS INSIGHT We've lived abroad for a number of years so about ten years ago we decided it was time to move home to be nearer to our children and six grandchildren. I have ridden all my life, so our criteria was a house with enough land for our horses, and some ponies for the grandchildren.

Unfortunately, our first property was too close to a busy dual carriageway and we realised we needed to find somewhere which was close to all amenities, but rural enough to give us the riding country and the views we craved.

We came across Regents House and realised we had found the haven we were looking for. The previous owner had designed and built it only a few years earlier so there was very little for us to do apart from adding some bespoke wardrobes and bookshelves in the new office. We loved the sense of space throughout and the modern design which extended to the stable complex and the additional annexe which has been a massive bonus when all the family comes to stay.

As we're well set back from the road, all the views from the house overlook our paddocks and gardens and one of the things we enjoy the most is being able to walk our dog in the morning around our fields without seeing a soul, in complete peace and solitude.

Our children love it here because every room looks out onto the gardens, so they can keep an eye on the grandchildren outside. But the highlight for the grandkids is our pond in front of the house. It's large enough for them to row around in our little boat and to catch the fish, which somehow seem to keep thriving, without any help from us. It keeps them entertained for hours!

Fordham is a lovely little village with the usual community events and Annual Summer Féte and, although we don't have many immediate neighbours, everyone is extremely friendly. Our neighbouring farmer is even kind enough to cut our paddocks for hay each year.

We've lived here for eight years and we've loved it. I know our family will miss all the space, and we will miss the peacefulness and the views, but now we no longer have the horses, it's time to move on and let another family enjoy the wonderful facilities we have here.
