A handsome Georgian family home with unconverted two storey outbuilding and delightful gardens of circa 0.4 acres set in a central town location.

* Cranbrook School catchment area *

Dearn Villa was constructed around 1838 and designed by the royal architect Thomas Dearn who was a prominent member of the Cranbrook community. As an architect Thomas Dearn is attributed with the design of numerous properties in the Cranbrook area including his own house, Dearn Villa. He came to the Weald Area in the 1790s and remained until his passing in 1853 where he was buried at St. Dunstan’s church.

Dearn Villa is a handsome family home that exhibits generous room proportions that would be expected of a property of this era. High ceilings and large windows at every turn allows the property to be flooded with plenty of natural light. Throughout there are elements of the Georgian era on display including deep skirting boards, wide board pine flooring, fireplaces to most of the rooms and decorative ceiling paneling on the ground floor.

The accommodation is set across two floors and comprises a kitchen/breakfast room, formal dining room, drawing room, cloakroom and sun room to the ground floor with a useful cellar below. On the first floor is a master bedroom with en suite shower room, two further double bedrooms and a family bathroom. Dearn Villa is accompanied by an unconverted outbuilding set across two floors with the ground floor currently used as storage for garden equipment and tools and the upper floor having been used as an artist’s studio.

The gardens of Dearn Villa are a particular feature of the property and extend to about 0.4 acres. Bathed in sunshine throughout much of the day they have been lovingly tended over the years. The area nearest to the house is an enclosed walled garden with central pathway and borders planted with perennial plants and shrubs with arches for climbing roses. The bottom section of the garden is enclosed by mature hedging and offers well established apple trees that bear an abundance of fruit. There are various additional sheds dotted around the garden with an attached former greenhouse to the rear of the outbuilding.

The property displays privacy hedging to the front and is approached across a gravel driveway offering off road parking.
