Sellers Insight - “We wanted a farmhouse with character and had looked at quite a few before we saw Broom Farm,” say the current owners. “As soon as we drove up the road and into the driveway we were hooked – the location and setting definitely ticked all the boxes for us. We were sold on the property as soon as we walked around, as it had a lovely homely feel and the rooms flowed well, creating what we knew would be a great family home.”
The only main feature that was missing for us was a garage so we made this a priority when we moved in with the addition of a 3 bay oak framed garage created by Cheshire Oak,” the owners continue. “We also felt the kitchen needed updating so we added granite work surfaces and a granite island with seating to create a more sociable space for everyday family life and entertaining alike. As we were working from home, as well as having teenagers, we felt that reliable WiFi was an absolute must, so we engaged a company to hardwire the whole property including the annexe and pool area, which has given us seamless connection at all times. We spend a lot of our time socialising outside, so we updated the pool area patio with hardwired heaters as well as an outside kitchen area with granite work surface. We improved the grounds, too, landscaping the pond area and having the driveway relaid as well as adding security lighting.”
“We love seeing the seasons change from the fantastic view out of the kitchen window,” they say. “We have also really enjoyed having ducks, moorhens and coots all nesting and raising their young on the pond as well as having the local farmer’s sheep in our fields. There are so many parts of the garden to explore, with the established flower beds, fruit trees, pond area, vegetable garden with polytunnel and fruit cage, as well as the pool area. We feel it has offered us everything we were looking for and more. There are also various patio areas to make the most of the different parts of the garden at different times of the day. Our favourite spot to sit is the patio just outside the double doors from the kitchen, overlooking the garden, where we’ve had many a gin sundowner!”
Indeed, the outdoor space makes this the ideal property for entertaining. “We had a wonderful family Christmas feast for 12 in the barn,” the owners say, “and have had some very late nights sitting in the covered, heated patio area by the pool with friends and family. Our neighbours across the road also recently hosted their granddaughter’s wedding reception and the happy couple had lots of photos taken in our garden, in particular around the pond, which is beautiful at this time of year. We’ve enjoyed the wonderful sense of community that living in Stanwardine has afforded us – the village throws a fantastic Jubilee party! Plus, we are just 25 minutes from Shrewsbury for all its shops, restaurants and amenities.”
