Wickenden

Wickenden is a charming country house built in the Lutyens Arts and Crafts style with light spaces, refined features and set in an idyllic position overlooking the village cricket ground. The house is constructed from handmade brick and tiles with Crittall windows with the front porch supported by two stone pillars in the shape of cricket stumps and these subtle cricket references continue
throughout the house with features which are beautifully finished, understated and unique to Wickenden.

As you enter the house, steps rise to the covered porch and the heavy timber door leads through to a long reception hall. Either side of the hallway there are Crittall windows with central French doors to the left opening onto a pathway crossing the koi pond. The main hall continues through the house and leads to the oak carved staircase and double height windows to the rear. Wickenden lends itself well for formal entertaining as well as family life, with interconnecting reception rooms and a grand vaulted drawing room with double height bay windows enjoying a perfect view of the neighbouring cricket ground. Both the dining room and study have open fireplaces, large windows and French doors to the terrace and formal gardens, with similar far-reaching views over the cricket ground beyond.
