Glan Gors was Lord Lisburne’s game keeper’s cottage and part of his country estate, just outside Tregaron, West Wales.

King Charles 111, spent time here in his youth, with Lord Lisburne’s shooting and fishing parties on Cors Caron and the lake by Glan Gors.

Glan Gors is situated beside the nature reserve, which Lord Lisburne sold to The Nature Conservatory Council. His game keeper, Graham Green, raised pheasants for shooting in the field by Glan Gors. Lord Lisburne retained his fishing and shooting rights for Cors Caron.

The Right Honourable John David Malet, Earl of Lisburne sold Glan Gors, the game keepers cottage to Mr & Mrs Knight in 1995. They have completely renovated the property to a very high standard, incorporating energy efficiency as a priority. Installing solar panels for hot water; photo voltaic cells for electricity, which powers an air source heat pump to provide underfloor heating and the maximum of insulation. There is also a wood burning stove, which uses the wood available from within the land forming a part of the property.

Cors Caron is a floating peat bog teaming with a range of wildlife. It is also one of the largest floating bogs in Europe, only one in Russia is comparable. A wide variety of rare birds like the Red Kite nest nearby, also woodpeckers, redstarts, bullfinches and lots more frequently visit the garden.

Glan Gors has it’s own private entrance to the foot path, cycle track and nature reserve, which will take you all the way to Aberystwyth.
