Rural cottage and associated outbuildings, in derelict condition, with 26.94 acres

Shielknowes Farm extends to about 26.94 acres and is accessed from a track owned by Forestry and Land Scotland. The track extends to about 0.6 miles.

The buildings within the grounds include a stone building; a connecting wing with a tin roof and the main single storey cottage which has a concrete tiled roof. Attached is a single storey wash house connected to a bothy/cart shed store, and a brick barn with a steel and tin roof. All of the outbuildings are in a derelict and collapsed state although we understand that the tiled roof of the stone cottage is watertight.

The land extends to about 26.94 in total of which 16.60 acres are organic pasture and the remaining 10.34 acres are peat bog. Although not registered with the Soil Association, for the past 40 years the land has been free from any synthetic chemicals, fertilisers and pesticides.

Because of the dangerous condition of the buildings they can only be viewed externally. As the track is completely overgrown, access through the boundary is by foot.

It is understood that the services are mains electricity, private water supply from a natural spring within the grounds, and a private septic tank.
