The Woodland at Darnconner is situated in a secluded and private location but within a short distance north east of Auchinleck. The area has good communication links to both north and south with access via the A76 to the M77 and M74 motorways. The local towns of Auchinleck and Cumnock provide a wide range of services and facilities. There is a railway station in Auchinleck with connections to Ayr and beyond. There are currently two primary schools and a secondary in the town and the new Barony Campus is due to open this year providing nursery, primary, secondary and supported learning education. In addition it will have a state-of-the-art sports centre and outdoor facilities providing enhanced leisure and recreational facilities to the local community. Glasgow Airport is about 40 miles distant.

Auchinleck Estate is nearby and there is a popular coffee and gift shop (Boswell’s Coach House) within the estate grounds along with enjoyable riverside walks. Auchinleck Mansion House, was built by Lord Auchinleck, James Boswell in the late 1700s. Dumfries House also close by is one of Britain’s most beautiful stately homes set in a 2,000 acre estate with an outstanding collection of 18th century furniture, beautiful walled gardens and coffee house.

Ayrshire is renowned for its range of outdoor pursuits. There are a number of world renowned golf courses including Royal Troon, Turnberry and Rowallan Castle Estate, Kilmaurs, which also has excellent equestrian facilities with an international indoor arena. The racecourse at Ayr provides regular fixtures. Excellent yachting facilities are available at the marinas in Ardrossan, Troon and Largs. Ayrshire is famous as the birthplace of Robert Burns.

DESCRIPTION
A useful small plantation combining commercial value with amenity which was established in 2012 under the Woodland Creation scheme. There is 12.03 acres of a Sitka Spruce and Larch mix((95% SS,5%HL), 4.32 acres of a broadleaves mix including Ash, Alder, Downy Birch, Rowan, Bird Cherry, Goat Willow and 2.91 acres of a mix of native species including Alder, Birch, Grey Willow, Bay Willow, Rowan and Bird Cherry. The remaining land is open space.

A management grant of £1560 p.a. is receivable for the woodland up to 2027.
