The Property
Jon’s Wood is a new broadleaved woodland planted in late 2018. The soils are fertile Brown earths providing excellent growing conditions for the young trees which have proved to have grown well in their first season. Lot One offers an opportunity to purchase Job’s Bank 4.15 hectares (10.26 acres) of a larger parcel.

The woodlands are planted with native broadleaved trees comprising an overall mix of 30% alder, 35% birch, 30% oak, and 5% wild cherry. Trees are protected with spiral guards and canes that will aid establishment and facilitate any maintenance tasks required.

Directions
From Durham City head south west on the A690 passing through Brandon, Brancepeth and Willington. Around 1 mile after Willington reach a crossroads and take the road on the right towards Stanley Crook. Travel along this road for approximately 0.6 miles passing a pine shelterbelt, the Golf Club entrance and a row of terraced houses all on your right. The site entrance is the galvanised field gate on the right hand side after the terraced houses. The nearest postcode to the land is DL15 9AB.

Basic Payment and Environmental Schemes
The entire woodland scheme is in the Woodland Carbon Scheme and is registered for the Basic Payment Scheme. Rights to the second payment of £1000/hectare due in 2023 will be allocated pro-rata to each lot. The vendor will require a new owner to enter into an agreement with the Forestry Commission to continue the care and maintenance of the woodland areas to achieve full establishment of the trees. This may require the replacement of any losses, although the early signs are that the trees are establishing well.
