Further Information from the current homeowners:
When we ourselves viewed the Brew House so many years ago, it's fair to say we fell in love as soon as we made our way through the wrought iron gates and up the pea shingle driveway. The sodium bulbs had just turned on in the old Victorian lights and the sun was just dipping over the horizon, coincidentally meeting the person that would turn out to be our next-door neighbour, who welcomed us to Gilston Park House.
For us the location was perfect, a short drive to the nearest train station/s (Harlow and/or St Margret's) but far enough away to be in the countryside and have nature on our doorstep. Since we've lived here the wildlife has only become more apparent with muntjac and fallow deer regularly roaming the grounds, Red Kites flying over the house and the magical moments when the barn owl can be seen hunting for breakfast and dinner at dawn and dusk. The lake at the end of the lawn which can be seen and enjoyed from our house is home to Swans and migrating Canada Geese (this year also cygnets and goslings), moorhens, coots and mandarin ducks along with an abundance of other wildlife.
The countryside really is on our doorstep with public footpaths easily accessible just a short distance from our property, which weave and navigate their way through the Hertfordshire landscape. We also benefit from being situated within thirteen acres of private grounds exclusively accessible by Gilston Park House residents and their guests, which includes rolling lawns, a sunken Italian Garden with mature trees, shrubs and pond, a woodland walk, orchard, lake stocked with various fish, picnic area, meadow and two tennis courts.
We are one of only four properties that have direct access to the grounds via our own private terrace and only one of two properties to have an additional secluded private garden. We also benefit from being one of only three houses that has its own private entrance away from the main house. Brew House is spread over three floors with a large Orangery overlooking the grounds. As well as benefiting from large areas of outside space we have a multitude of inside space that creates versatility when working from home. Fibre to the Home was installed two years ago and can achieve speeds of 900mb.
There are two pubs (The Plume of Feathers and The Dusty Miller) a short walk away and a third a little further (Fox and Hounds, Hunsdon) which is the most tranquil walk past Gilston Church, across the historic airfield and open pastures (approx. 25-30mins walk away). All serve food to great standard, each with their own very social beer gardens, with the Fox and Hounds allowing dogs inside both the bar and dining area/s.
We are blessed with a lovely community in Gilston where you can be as involved as you choose, with neighbourhood dog walks, Harvest and Scarecrow festivals, Carols by Candlelight at Christmas and regular events throughout the year to mark key occasions, most recently a post-covid festival in Eastwick.
Access to the shops is in easy reach whichever way you turn with; Harlow, Bishop's Stortford, Hertford, Broxbourne and Cheshunt all within a short drive. In the past few months Deliveroo have also started delivering to our area!

*When you live in a house like this you are a part of history. A custodian for future generations and you really feel as if you are part of something bigger. It is a joy to take care of this house. The gardens and parklands are amazing and we are truly blessed to have all of this at our fingertips. The best part is you don't have to maintain any of it yourself. The house is maintained by the Management Company and we have a great team of gardeners to look after the grounds. We have more than 13 acres including tennis courts, formal gardens, meadow, a picnic area by a lake and a woodland walk. Its been a great place to be locked down.
