Lawnwood forms the east wing of the main building, Ashley House - a substantial Georgian-style home thought to have been built in the mid-Victorian era of the 1850s. The front entrance is at the centre of the house, where a porch opens onto a hallway with storage along one side. To the right is a light and airy kitchen/breakfast room with fitted units on three walls and a large window with original shutters looking out on to the front drive/garden. The ceilings are high and some original features, such as picture rails and arch details, remain.

Back in the hallway, a cloakroom is under the staircase, and doors lead into the dining room one way and the garden room the other. The dining room features decorative arches which suggests it may have been part of the original grand entrance hall in the house. A glass door from here connects to the garden room which has a glass pitched roof and more glass doors that lead out into the garden. Both the garden room and the dining room connect with the drawing room – a generous space with triple bay windows on one aspect and windows either side of the fireplace on another. From here, a small staircase leads up to the first floor, and to the bedrooms above.

There is another main staircase in the hallway that leads up to the first level at the front of the house, so this staircase arrangement could be altered or removed, depending on layout of bedrooms on the first floor.

On the first floor sits the principal bedroom which has a triple bay window with lovely views on to the garden and fields beyond, an adjacent bathroom, another bedroom and a small bedroom/study. Through bedroom 4 or dressing room, there's a guest bedroom suite, landing with storage, and stairs (via the main staircase) back down into the hall. There's a lot of potential with this property to reveal its original features and proportions.

The self contained flat is accessed via the rear of the house, down a few steps. It has its own private entrance opening into the living/dining room and an adjacent fully-fitted modern kitchen. A small hall area separates the living areas from the double bedroom and bathroom.

A door opening from here leads into the vaulted rooms which remain undeveloped; their origins as coal and goods storage still obvious. It should be noted that there is potential to develop these vaults, subject to obtaining the necessary listed building and planning consents. An original staircase from the ground floor hallway could be revealed to access the vaults from the main house as well as via the apartment.

The property is approached via a long private road, where there are multiple shared parking spaces.

Surrounded by fields, the beautiful south-west facing gardens are mostly level lawn interspersed with mature shrubs and trees. Along the lower side of the garden, multiple fruit trees - Damson, Walnut, Apple, Mulberry, Cherry and Pear - form a small orchard, its ground covered in spring flowers, and a hedge line separating it from the larger garden space next to the house. Here, a lawn is edged by flowerbeds with mature shrubs and varied planting/perennials.

Towards the rear, there's a large pond (originally a swimming pool), a terrace and then more trees and lawn. Another lawned terrace houses a shed and greenhouse and leads around the side of the house to the garage which can be accessed via a side path.
