Historical Note

According to British History online the chief house was mentioned in 1295. The Manor House is said to have been built by Mary, wife of John Constable, in 1659 and it had ten hearths in 1672. Catfoss Hall, as it was sometimes called, was included in the sale to Bethell in 1726. It is said to have been demolished in 1815 and the outbuildings converted into the current house which was itself later called Catfoss Hall.
