DESCRIPTION

Originally named 'Newholme' and commissioned in 1915, it is thought to be the first home to be built in the Westella Park Building Estate by W.E.H. Howard for the retired Captain William Turner who then in 1924, sold it to the Revd. W.R. Erskine for £2,400 and who renamed it 'Linlathen'.

Enlarged in 1951, it was Anita & Charles Fox who purchased the property in 1954 that named it 'Seymour House'.

As with this era, the gracious main rooms are double aspect ornamented with large window openings or french doors and dressed with either parquet flooring or oak panelling and fireplaces. The six bedrooms and three bath/shower rooms are set over two floors and the house extends to nearly 4000sqft/385sqm., all set under a close boarded roof which was recovered in 1988.

In the late 1990's the installation of a gas-fired central heating and hot water systems was implemented along with internal alterations comprising the updating of the main bathroom and kitchen and connecting this through to a bespoke 26' 'Marston & Langinger' hardwood conservatory.

Located in the heart of the village, just a short level walk to its amenities and open moorland, the 0.56 acre garden is exceptionally private; encompassing and delightful with a raised sunny terrace leading off the reception rooms looking out over the former granite lined Devonport Leat and level lawns. To the side and rear is an octagonal summerhouse; greenhouse and a heated swimming pool, with one of the two detached garages being utilised as a pump house with an oil fired boiler and filtration system.
