An exciting opportunity to purchase 5.36 acres of amenity woodland delightfully positioned on the edge of the popular market town of Bawtry in the county South Yorkshire.
Situation
Situated on the western edge of the market town of Bawtry, lies Menagerie Wood; a mature woodland extending to 5.36 acres (2.17 hectares) or thereabouts.
The woodland previously formed part of the grounds to Bawtry Hall, a Grade II listed hall built in the mid-18th century, that had once been the headquarters for the RAF Bomber Command during the Second World War.
Description
Lying in a single parcel, the woodland comprises mainly of deciduous species such as Beech, Oak, Lime and Silver Birch, and is enclosed by timber fencing and mature hedgerows.
In general the land is flat with some gradual sloping to the north, down towards the A631 Tickhill Road.
The RAF had constructed a number of huts within the woodland where the tree coverage would have given some protection from being spotted from enemy aircraft. The huts are no longer standing with only a number of concrete bases remaining.
Access is available from the layby off Tickhill Road to the north or from Westwood Road to the southwest off.
Method of Sale
This property is offered for sale by Online Auction.
