SITUATION
The Buildings at Old Hall Farm are in a private location on the edge of the town of Newton Stewart. Formerly a working farm, the original farmhouse, under separate ownership, lies to the south of the buildings separated by a fence.
Newton Stewart was founded in the mid-17th century by William Stewart, the youngest son of the second Earl of Galloway and developed to become a market town. The town is situated on the banks of the River Cree and known as the Gateway to the Galloway Hills. Newton Stewart offers a wide range of shops and offices, three primary schools, two supermarkets, health centre and a community cinema as well as the secondary school and leisure centre. The adjoining town of Minnigaff is home to an 18 hole golf course and club house.
Wigtown, Scotland’s Book Town, which is approximately 7.8 miles from the property, holds an annual Book Festival and is home to many bookshops and cafes. The famous Bladnoch Distillery is located just outside the town. The communications to the area are good, with regular flights to London and mainland Europe from Prestwick 46 miles north, and also Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports 80 and 113 miles respectively. There is a main line railway stations in Stranraer, Dumfries and Lockerbie. The M74 motorway network is accessible at Gretna.
DIRECTIONS
Heading south on the A714 from Girvan to Newton Stewart, follow King Street onto Arthur Street into Newton Stewart and take a right approximately 100 yards after the police station heading up hill onto Windsor Road.
