Roneil House is within an excellent locale approximately 1.5 miles from the centre of Paisley. The town itself is often referred to as “Scotland’s largest town” and has all of the facilities associated with a settlement of this size. Paisley was once the world centre for thread making and by the mid-19th century weaving had become the town’s principal industry. There were several mills across the town and one of the most notable, Anchor Mills was developed into apartments overlooking the White Cart Water. The scenic Glennifer Braes walk is close by and has panoramic views over Paisley and beyond to Ben Lomond. Glasgow City Centre is easily reached from the road networks or from Paisley Gilmour Street Station which has regular train links into the city centre and beyond. Private schooling is available nearby at Glasgow Academy (10.6 miles) Hutchesons’ (7.7 miles) and Belmont (7.5 miles). Glasgow and Prestwick Airports offer regular scheduled flights and are 3.1 and 27.8 miles away respectively.

DESCRIPTION
Roneil House is an attractive B Listed red sandstone Arts and Crafts mansion built over two storeys under a tile roof which has until recently been operated as a children’s home. Designed by the architect T G Abercrombie, Roneil was built for John Robertson, of jam and marmalade fame, in 1891 and has had later additions. The property has been vandalised in recent years and now requires a full and comprehensive refurbishment. The accommodation is laid out over two floors and has an estimated gross internal area of approximately 527.23 sq. meters. The current layout houses three living rooms, two offices, dining room, kitchen, games room, staff room, laundry room, two bedrooms and three w/c’s on the ground floor. The first floor comprises eight bedrooms, two bathrooms and one shower room.

GARDEN (AND GROUNDS)
The private wooded grounds measure approximately 1.8 acres in total and house a garage building and former basketball court.

PLANNING
Roneil House was last used as a children’s home and has potential for a considerable variety of uses including for residential care or restoration to residential use subject to any relevant consents. It is understood that sensitively designed wider redevelopment could possibly be achieved but requires detailed consideration in respect of accessibility, impact on existing trees and differences in site levels.
