From Junction 40 on the M6 take the 4th exit if travelling from the south or the second if coming from the north, onto the A66 eastbound which is a short length of dual cariageway. After 1 mile take the 4th exit at the roundabout signposted Eamont Bridge, follow the road through the village and turn right onto the B5320 signposted Pooley Bridge and Ullswater.
Continue over the motorway and railway and after passing through Tirril turn left into a narrow lane signposted Celleron and Askham. Continue up the lane for nearly a mile and at the juntion at the top turn left signposted Askham and Haweswater, keep going for almost a mile along a winding lane until you see an entrance on the right with green signs saying High Winder House and Cottages.
