There is an underground irrigation main that services all the fields and is fed by way of a summer abstraction licence from the Needham Drain. The land, which is split into six good sized fields, is classified as grade 1 on the Provisional Land Classification Map and is of the Wisbech soil series, described as deep stoneless calcareous silty soils
