- BOZOMZEAL, THE BYRE, , DITTISHAM, DARTMOUTH, DEVON, 1100000, 26/05/2022
Gorgeous house in an idyllic rural setting less than a mile from Dittisham, with about 4 acres, outbuilding / studio and sea views.
Description
The Byre is one of three converted barns that originally formed part of the neighbouring Bozomzeal Manor, a stunning listed manor house, which during the early 1400s was home to Sir John Bozom, Sheriff of Devon and MP for Dartmouth. The Byre is a superb conversion, with large windows, plenty of natural light and a magnificent vaulted ceiling in the dining hall. Thy Byre is attached to the neighbouring Linhay, another beautiful conversion and being in a slightly elevated position The Byre affords lovely views across the surrounding countryside and down to the sea, where it meets the Dart Estuary. The Byre offers spacious accommodation with a beautifully appointed kitchen / breakfast room, fitted with a good range of units, an electric Aga set in tiled recess with impressive mantle above, a combination oven, butler sink and walk in larder. The dining hall and sitting room both have lovely stone built fireplaces housing wood burning stoves. On this floor is also the principal en suite bedroom and guest bedroom with separate bathroom, both bedrooms offer lovely views from which to wake up to! The lower ground floor comprises a further two double bedrooms and a family bathroom and a fifth bedroom which makes an ideal study.
The drive / track is shared by the three barns and extends for about a mile to another house located on the banks of the River Dart. The grounds are an absolute delight and in total extend to about 4 acres. The garden is beautifully landscaped and has a large decked terrace, flower beds and a summer house and measures about a third of an acre. The paddock, which extends to about 3.7 acres was bought by the current owners independently of The Byre. The paddock is gated and fenced and home to a number of trees with a fabulous tree house, an orchard, kitchen garden and running stream.
The pitch and tiled outbuilding used to be stables, but latterly has been used for kenneling, garaging, work store and laundry. The first floor is a large hobbies room / artist's studio which currently houses a large model railway.
