Modern house with views over the Thames Valley.

Description

Grey Kite House was built about 7 years ago by the well renowned local builder Don Wakefield and has been beautifully designed to create an outstanding and tastefully presented home. The house has been built to a very high standard with great attention to detail. The accommodation is light and airy and is perfect for a modern family lifestyle taking full advantage of the lovely gardens and rural views over the Thames Valley.

Gardens and Grounds

Grey Kite House is approached from the lane through electric gates to parking to the front of the garaging, where a path leads over the lawn to the front door. The majority of the gardens are enclosed and lie to the rear of the property where there are some lovely views over fields towards the Thames Valley. To the east of the house is a copse of woodland with a charming and magical fairy trail for children. There is a kitchen garden and chicken enclosure to one side, and an enclosed and secure children’s play area.

Location

Situation
Grey Kite House is set on the edge of the village of Lower Basildon looking out over the Thames Valley across to the Chiltern Hills. The pretty villages of Streatley and Goring on either side of the Thames, are within a couple of miles and between them offer good shopping facilities as well as well-known restaurants and pubs as well as the popular Pierreponts Café. More extensive shopping facilities can be found in Pangbourne which also has a railway station (Paddington). There is a wide selection of schools in the area, both primary and secondary, private and state.

Lower Basildon is a village best known for Basildon Park now owned by the National Trust and latterly featured in Pride and Prejudice. The surrounding undulating country is popular for walkers, riders and cyclists with a network of bridleways and footpaths and in particular The Ridgeway. Beale Park and the River Thames are within walking distance and there is paddle boarding at the end of Church Lane. Another local attraction is Hartslock, a nature reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest, with its mix of chalkland and ancient woodland.
