Description - A single arable field. The land is classified as Grade 2 on the MAFF Agricultural Land Classification Plan.

It is shown on the 1:250,000 Soil Survey of England and Wales Map as predominantly Whimple 3 which is described as reddish fine loamy or fine silty over clayey soils. The north eastern side of the field is Fladbury 1 which is easily worked and described as stoneless clayey soils, in places calcareous.

In the past it has grown sugar beet, oilseed rape, potatoes and combinable crops.

Location - East Stoke is a small village lying on high ground around half a mile east of the River Trent and about six miles south west of
Newark-upon-Trent.

Directions - Leave Newark-upon-Trent head south west on the B6166 Farndon Road for 3.8 miles to the small village of East Stoke.
Continue south out of the village on Fosse Road for 0.1 miles and the field is on the left at the junction with Elston Lane which
is gated and closed.
