Priory Barn benefits from large reception rooms, including a snooker room, orangery, large kitchen diner, snug and a beautifully appointed drawing room, there is also a mezzanine area in the drawing room which could be used as an additional bedroom, library or study. There are four bedrooms in the main house, two of which enjoy en suite facilities. There is a further family bathroom and downstairs shower room. The property is not listed, but enjoys all of the character features that you would expect in a property of this magnitude.

There is a detached triple garage and store with self-contained one bedroom annexe above and stable block (three stables, tack room, feed store and hay store), which the current owners have explored the possibilities in turning them into holiday cottages.

There is an enclosed garden with pond and a large paddock including an existing ménage, beyond which incorporates the approach to the property. Along the drive there are mature shrubs and trees, bordering the ancient wall where the monk's fish traps are located. The drive then turns into a glorious courtyard where you will find the entrance to Priory Barn, Stabling and the detached garage with separate annexe.

Property History

With links to William De Falaise, a trusted nobleman of William the Conqueror, this historical property is set within 2 acres (approx) of land which would be suitable for equine use. This stunning country residence is full of character, with exposed beams, wood paneling and stonework. Flagstone floors with under floor heating are more recently installed, even the fish traps which the Black Benedictine monks of Lonlay d’ Abbaye used nearly a millennia ago are still visible.
Priory Barn has been used for many things over the last millennium including accommodation for the monks, hospitalisation and sheltering of domesticated animals. In the 1400’s, the property was gifted to Eton College by Henry VI, before being relinquished several hundred years later.
