Sporting and recreational activities in the area are numerous. Kingley Vale, in the surrounding South Downs countryside, provides many opportunities for walking, riding and mountain biking. To the south, the waters of The Solent and Chichester Harbour are very popular with sailors and provides some of the best sailing facilities within convenient travelling distance of London. The beaches along the south coast, and in particular The Witterings, attract bathers, windsurfers and those interested in kitesurfing and landboarding. Goodwood is already internationally known for its famous race course but also plays host to the annual Festival of Speed and The Revival at its historic motor circuit. There are a number of golf courses, the closest being located at Rowlands Castle. Road communications are good with the Hindhead Tunnel significantly improving travelling times to London via the A3.
