This is one of those all too rare properties that seems like a time capsule, which change has only had visited occasionally. Dating back to the mid-16th century, Dash Hayes is thought to have been partly built from stone salvaged from Shaftesbury Abbey, following the abbey's dissolution in the English Reformation of 1539. It is a lovely example of a prosperous farmhouse of the period and is built of dressed stone under a shaped and patterned clay tile and stone tile roof. It also has an attractive, symmetrical front with Georgian sash windows, stone mullion windows at the rear and has excellent ceiling height throughout. The property has been owned by the same family for the past 70 years and now requires modernisation. One advantage of this long, single period of ownership is that it has retained its architectural
integrity and has some lovely features such as an impressive, arrow-proof front door, chamfered oak beams, flagstone floors, fireplaces, wainscot panelling and a wealth of internal period joinery. The house also has a lovely position set well-back off the village lane and most of the principal rooms are south facing. These include the centrally positioned dining hall with the sitting room off to one side and the boot room on the other, which could also be used as an additional reception room if required. Extending along at the back of the house is the rear hall, which also serves as a walk-through pantry, with a wide staircase to the first floor and doors leading to the study, kitchen, cloakroom and a walk-in larder.
On the first floor is a galleried landing well-lit by natural light, four double bedrooms, which all look out across the garden and paddocks, a recently installed wet room and separate WC.

Dash Hayes is positioned back from the village lane with a good-sized garden both in front, behind and to one side of the house, partly bounded by stone walling. It consists of lawn studded with a variety of plum, pear and apple trees and a fringe of slim borders stocked with flowering shrubs and herbaceous perennials. Behind the house is an area of kitchen garden that has been allowed to return to grass but could easily be returned to its former use. Beside the former kitchen garden are a lean-to fuel store, machinery store, three compost bins and greenhouse. The house is approached up a grassed-over tarmac drive leading to a parking area beside a large, timber-built garage. To one side of the drive is a former soft fruit garden beside an attractive stone-built barn and wood store complete with cobbled floor. Beside the north-east corner of the garden is a brickbuilt stable block with two loose boxes and a tack room, behind which is a seating area beside a small garden pond. Extending out from the garden and outbuildings are three adjoining paddocks, one of which is equipped with a sheep field shelter. Agent's note: On the far side of the northern boundary wall between Dash Hayes and its neighbour is a gravelled drive serving both properties. At the top of the drive is an area providing additional parking for Dash Hayes. The land in question is unregistered. Uplift clause: The restrictive covenants on the paddocks are being removed to permit development which will be subject to an uplift clause upon the granting of planning permission.
