Kingswear sits on the sunny, east bank of the River Dart at the entrance of the Dart Estuary in the South Hams. Brookhill, the neighbouring property to Brookhill Cottage, was built by the Holdsworth family in the early 1800s and was one of the most notable houses in the area. We believe Brookhill Cottage, which was built in the grounds, is possibly the former chapel to this impressive regency style house which is now apartments. From the Lower Ferry, proceed up Fore Street, taking the first hairpin right turn into Church Hill (this is likely to involve a three point turn). Follow Church Hill to the sharp left hand turning and instead of following the bend to the left, diagonally cross over into the upper lane ahead which is Castle Road. Continue along Castle Road, passing the private signs and as you reach a row of garages on your left and Brookhill Court apartments on your right, the entrance to Brookhill Cottage is immediately after Brookhill Apartments.
