Old Ladhope Manse is accessed from Windyknowe Road, to the west of Galashiels town centre.
Galashiels is a popular town in a central location within the Borders and is the commercial capital of the region. It benefits from a broad range of services and shops (including 2 major supermarkets) and a wide variety of recreational and sporting facilities. There are several primary schools and a secondary school within easy reach and part of Heriot Watt University is located in the town.
The Borders General Hospital and Scottish Borders Council headquarters are both easily accessible and the surrounding countryside, which is noted for its scenic beauty, offers superb opportunities for horse riding, walking, cycling and fishing amongst other activities.
Galashiels has excellent road links with Edinburgh and the north of England and there is a regular train service between the town and Edinburgh.
Old Ladhope Manse dates from around the 1860s. It was originally used by the minister of the local Ladhope Church and subsequently went into private ownership.
The detached property retains many features such as high ceilings, astragal windows and an impressive grand staircase. A conservatory was added onto the southern side of the house and is accessed from the drawing room with doors leading into the garden. En suite shower rooms were added to two bedrooms in the 1980s.
Apart from these changes little has been done to alter the original property and there is now scope to upgrade the décor.
Detached double garage with coal house, WC and garden store. Scullery/wash house. Timber storage shed.
The extensive grounds at Old Ladhope Manse are surrounded by a wall and are mature and well tended.
There is a large lawn in front of the house. An area of beds has been created on the south side of the house and includes herbaceous borders and areas for vegetable growing. A less formal area, known as the Jungle, lies on the north east side of the grounds and includes tree and shrubs.
Privacy and shelter is provided by mature trees placed sporadically around the perimeter of the
property.
EPC Rating = D
