Principal wing of an impressive Victorian country house.

Description

6 Deanwood House comprises one of the principal wings of this impressive Victorian country house thought to have been built in about 1875, and is a fine example of that period. It was later altered and remodeled in the early part of the 20th century incorporating features typical of the Arts and Craft movement, including the addition of a magnificent stained glass dome over the staircase and dining hall. The house incorporates the original main staircase and one of the former reception rooms as well as the impressive front doors and entrance hall. The house is both light and spacious with well proportioned rooms, high ceilings, carved oak panelling, panelled doors and tiled floors.

The Gardens

The private garden is an extremely attractive feature of the house and comprises an enclosed formal area with a terrace, lawns and flower borders, as well as an area of woodland with mature oaks, rhododendrons and azaleas. In addition the property also has the use of part of the walled garden which lies directly west of the house.
