HISTORY
The Holt Hall Estate originally amounted to 503 acres. The grade 2 listed Hall was built in the 1840’s and extended in the 1860’s. The previous Hall was nearer the lake and was demolished. It had a chapel which was taken down and parts used to build the Victorian folly in the gardens.
The Estate was sold in lots in 1946 following the death of the owner. The Hall and about 90 acres were acquired by the Norfolk Education Committee. From 1950 to 1972 Holt Hall was run as a boarding school. In 1973 the Hall became a Field Study Centre and in the 1990’s widened its scope by introducing weekend leisure courses.
