Lochside is in a beautiful loch side setting between the villages of Aultbea and Mellon Charles on the west coast of Scotland. The property comprises a sensitively modernised and extended traditional cottage and an adjacent high specification, environmentally friendly contemporary cottage, both set in delightful grounds on the shores of Loch Ewe.

The nearby village of Aultbea lies on the west shore of the loch and has a good range of amenities including a village shop, post office, doctor’s surgery and garage. There is a primary school at Bualnaluib, one mile from Aultbea, and secondary schooling is in Gairloch about 12 miles away and for which there is a free bus service. Further shops and amenities are available in Gairloch, Ullapool and Dingwall, and Inverness has all the facilities of a major city, including its airport with regular flights to the south and Europe.

New Cottage and Lochside are two outstanding cottages currently run as holiday lets. Formerly an artisan food business with owners’ accommodation, in 2019 the production and retail space was converted into a luxury, environmentally friendly cottage and two years later the original croft cottage was extended and modernised and included as part of the holiday let offering.

New Cottage was conceived as a unique holiday rental where sustainability, green tourism and the coastal setting are combined with and reflected in the state of the art interior. The single storey accommodation has curved walls and floor to ceiling windows to create a feeling of calm and to extend the sense of living space into the landscape. The fittings are all of the highest quality and where possible, natural, recycled or reclaimed materials have been used, while an electric car charging point is powered by pv solar panels.

Lochside has recently been upgraded and extended to create accommodation of the same high standard as New Cottage, but with the character and features of a traditional Highland cottage. The ground floor is now semi-open plan, while the kitchen and bathrooms have high quality fittings and the interior is warm and welcoming with its larch wood flooring and multi-fuel stove.
