The house was built in 1760 on the site of the previous manor house that was constructed in Tudor times and apparently some of the materials and brickwork from the earlier residence have been incorporated in the newer property. These include a stained glass window, panelling, fireplaces and exposed beams such as the fascinating open oak vertical beams in the reception hall seating area.
Although the house needs substantial and comprehensive updating it has secondary glazing and spacious accommodation including a large dual aspect drawing room with an impressive inglenook fireplace and inset shelving while the formal, double aspect dining room has a brick fireplace and log burner style electric fire as well as panelling and a sculptured lion's head, retrieved from the earlier property. There is also a snug/office as well as a cloakroom and a utility room and the kitchen/breakfast room, with exposed beams, colourful units and an Aga.
You can admire the stained glass window from the first floor galleried landing with its central archway. This leads to the family bathroom, a single bedroom and three double bedrooms including the dual aspect master with an en suite shower. The second floor consists of two, interconnecting double bedrooms with vaulted and beamed ceilings, wood flooring and amazing views.
There are some 12 outbuildings attached to this property and many could provide endless opportunities for development, subject to the necessary permissions. As examples one of the outbuildings includes three storerooms, a large playroom and an impressive games/function room with heating and lighting while another has two big garages, five stables, a storage facility and a cloakroom. A vast L shaped building is currently a carport for five cars with storage facilities and a large barn. The black clad Essex barn is Grade II Listed but previous concepts suggest this could become a detached seven bedroom house. Also Grade II listed is the clock tower atop another building that would also make a character property.
What the Owner says:
This property has been in our family since 1964 and was originally a dairy farm. It was a wonderful place to grow up but we feel it is time to make a move and hope that the right person will come along and create something special with the opportunities available. The grounds are surrounded by woodland, lakes and fields which provide not only a natural barrier but also privacy and security. There are places to enjoy nature with a plethora of woodland walks and two lakes. There are three large fields and stables so this would be ideal for anyone interested in equine activities or those looking to develop ‘the good life' as there is plenty of space for a variety of livestock. In addition there is a vast concrete area where you can park numerous private and commercial vehicles and the property is well set up for anyone wanting to work from home as a 1GB broadband connection through Gigaclear has been installed.
It is amazingly private as there are no houses nearby yet we are only 10 minutes' drive from the Central Line Station at Theydon Bois where the underground train will take you to London in 25 minutes. This village includes shops, beauty salons, restaurants and pubs as well as golf, tennis and cricket clubs and access to the M11 and M25 for Cambridge, London Stansted, City and Southend airports.

This being 4.2% of the purchase price including VAT, subject to a minimum of £6,000.00 including VAT. The Reservation Fee is paid in addition to purchase price and will be considered as part of the chargeable consideration for the property in the calculation for stamp duty liability.
Buyers will be required to go through an identification verification process with iamsold and provide proof of how the purchase would be funded.
This property has a Buyer Information Pack which is a collection of documents in relation to the property. The documents may not tell you everything you need to know about the property, so you are required to complete your own due diligence before bidding.
