BERRYHILL HOUSE ENERGY INFORMATION::
Berryhill has Solar PV installed which affords a FIT (feed in tariff) payment averaging to approx. £1,200 per year. In 2019 a Tesla battery was installed. This battery allows the energy generated from the solar panels to be stored and used when energy is required in the house. Anything that the house does not use is exported to the national grid and Berryhill receives a payment per KWh of energy exported. The amount of energy used by the house and the amount exported, can be seen per day/month/year and is easy to monitor via the Tesla app.
Since the installation of the Tesla battery Berryhill house has been 57% self powered which means our electricity bills are reduced by just over half. In 2020 our electricity bill for the year was £658 and for the month of July 2021, Berryhill house was 99% self powered.
In addition to Solar PV, Berryhill house also benefits from solar thermal which is installed on the roof. The highly efficient solar thermal unit not only provides the house with hot water for much of the year but it also qualifies the house for the RHI payment of approx. £48/quarter.
The Rayburn, which acts as a condensing boiler and is used for heating and cooking, uses about 1000lts of kerosene per year.
