Through the front door, the main area of the house meanders to the right, passing through the large living room with feature fireplace to the bright dining room with French doors on to the terrace. The farmhouse-style kitchen features a peninsular and range oven and leads to the sitting room with double height windows overlooking the garden and down to the River Loddon.
The first floor hosts 4 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The master suite, at the eastern end of the house, includes an en-suite bathroom and sitting gallery with views over the garden, down to the river.
The single storey west wing consists of a bedroom, living room, bathroom and kitchen. Accessible from the main hallway, it can be used as a separate residence.
Garage & workshop
Alongside the main house is a large workshop and triple garage.
Gardens
The gardens are mostly laid to lawn and lie to the south and east of the property, stretching down to the River Loddon with over 100ft of river frontage. There is a gravelled patio area by the river, shaded by a willow tree and with tranquil views up and down the river.
Location
Tawnies is on a stretch of the River Loddon alongside a series of lakes which collectively remain a quiet, naturally beautiful corner of Reading. Sitting in the garden of Tawnies, it's hard to believe the business parks and transport networks of Reading are just minutes away.
Dinton Country Park and Activity Centre is less than a mile away, providing sailing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and a play park, along with a network of tranquil country walks and mountain biking trails.
Away from the water you will find country pubs, Woodley shopping centre and Winnersh Triangle all within 2 miles. Reading town centre is 5 miles away with a huge range of high street shops and restaurants, serving as a hub for services and social activities for the surrounding villages.
Tawnies truly offers the best of both worlds, with country living in a superbly connected location.

Seller Insight
I discovered Tawnies when I came here to buy a vintage red phone box. Two weeks later I'd bought the house too, without even having gone upstairs!
The house really stood out for its beauty, character and warmth, with a great outlook across the garden to the river. I've loved the privacy and seclusion the house offers, it's a rural environment yet so close to nearby towns.
I spend most of my time in the day by the wood burning stove watching the wildlife, in the summer I'm outside on a sun lounger and on winter evenings I sit by the living room fireplace. Although the house is big, it's warm and cosy year round.
As soon as I moved in I bought a little boat to take my grandchildren out on the lake, they love it, we've made some precious memories on those outings. This has been a great house for entertaining family and friends; I have a lot of visitors who love the house as much as I do.
You don't have to go far to get what you need from here, Woodley shops have most things I need in 200 yards. I venture in to Wokingham or Reading if I want something specific or to eat out. I always look forward to coming home though, there's always something going on, either visitors inside or wildlife outside.
I'm moving to be closer to family and work, so I'm passing on the house with plenty of potential for the new owner to put their stamp on it and make it their own.
