The grand reception lobby welcomes you inside and leads you to the heart of the home where the versatile living areas include a 34ft1 x 22ft9 lounge and dining room with lovely outlook over the grounds that extend to approximately 4 acres. The generous proportions continue upstairs featuring a Master bedroom with adjoining ensuite bathroom and dressing area plus a four piece bathroom suite that serves four further bedrooms. This impressive country house is offered for sale with no upward chain and will appeal to those with a touch of imagination looking to escape the rat-race.

Location

Nestled in the High Weald countryside to the west of Rye lies the tranquil village of Broad Oak, Brede. With majestic views all around, Broad Oak sits on top of a hill roughly halfway between Hastings and Tenterden. Not to be confused with its familiar namesake near Heathfield, this picturesque East Sussex village is located on a crossroads between the A28 and the B2089 with local services including a garage, public houses, and small shops with the main shopping town at Hastings about 8 miles away (approximately 20 minutes drive) to the south, and Tenterden about 6 miles to the north east. The nearest trains run from Hastings or Battle on the main London line, providing 1/2 hourly services. Brede was famous for its iron works, and manufactured cannon and shot until the late 1770's, when gunpowder was manufactured. Three major explosions racked the mills, and finally on 7th March 1808 Brede Gunpowder Mills was completely destroyed, ending its production. The area is packed full of links to Norman history. Battle Abbey, Bodiam Castle and the Cinque ports of Rye and Winchelsea are just a stone's throw away, while the infamous walking trail which links Pevensey to Rye is just a few miles south of the village. Although it may be slightly overshadowed by key historical areas nearby, Broad Oak boasts many fascinating tales of its own.
